Awareness Week in Westminster

Coeliac awareness increased among MPs

This year's Awareness Week saw nearly 50 Parliamentarians attend our reception in the House of Commons on 15th May. This is a bigger attendance than last year and we saw more MPs this year following the success of our two Early Day Motions which received over 140 and 130 signatures and February's debate in the House of Commons.

Our exhibition the next day in the building that houses many MPs offices was also visited by MPs and researchers and helped to make our presence known and raise awareness.

The reception and the exhibition were sponsored by Gordon Banks MP, Secretary of the All Party Group on Coeliac Disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis.

An Early Day Motion (No.1449) was also tabled by Gordon Banks calling for early diagnosis of coeliac disease. To view the text of EDM 1449 click here.

So far over 80 MPs have added their names to the EDM.
