Eating gluten by mistake

Mistakes are bound to happen from time to time, normally when you are eating out of home. But what should you do when a mistake is made?

Unfortunately, once gluten has been eaten there is nothing that can be done to reverse this mistake. Most people will experience symptoms after a few hours, but it can take up to a couple of days for symptoms to appear. If you are experiencing diarrhoea and/or vomiting then it is essential that you keep yourself hydrated - you need to drink enough fluid to replace what you are losing plus a bit extra. Becoming dehydrated will make you feel even worse.

The most important thing is to get straight back onto a gluten-free diet, but there is nothing in particular that you can eat to make you feel better - if you have lost your appetite eating a little of whatever you fancy is fine (as long as its gluten-free!).
